Our client is a leading supplier of electrical kitchen appliances and small domestic appliances to the retail industry. With strong relationships across the Far East, they specialise in sourcing high-quality products for major retail clients. As they continue to grow, they are seeking a Junior Buyer to join their dynamic purchasing team. This is an excellent opportunity to gain invaluable experience in international sourcing, supplier relationships, and product procurement within a fast-paced and growing market.
* Supplier Sourcing and Relationship Management:
Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers in the Far East, ensuring timely and cost-effective procurement of electrical kitchen appliances and small domestic appliances.
* Order Management and Supply Chain Coordination monitor product orders from suppliers, ensuring clear communication regarding order quantities, delivery schedules, and compliance with quality standards.
* Monitor stock levels
Work closely with the logistics team to ensure smooth clearance of goods from factories.
* Product and Market Analysis: Support the Senior Buyer with market trends and competitor analysis to ensure the company remains competitive in product offerings and pricing.
* Assist in selecting and negotiating product assortments in line with customer demand and market trends.
* Update critical path
* Far East Travel: Occasionally travel to the Far East to visit suppliers, inspect products, manage supplier relationships, and participate in factory inspections and clearance processes.
* Price Negotiation and Costing: Assist in negotiating pricing with suppliers and ensure cost competitiveness for the company’s product range.
* Administrative Support: Maintain accurate records of orders, contracts, and supplier communications. Ensure that all documentation complies with company and legal standards.
* Product Launch and Stock Management: Coordinate with internal teams for product launches and stock replenishment, ensuring availability and timely delivery to retail clients.
Skills & Experience Required:
* At least 1year’s experience in buying or procurement, ideally within the electrical kitchen appliances or small domestic appliances sector, although not essential, you will ideally have experience within import/export/supply chain/products
* This role would not suit someone who is a Buyer within retail
* Experience and understanding of critical path
* Travel Flexibility - Ability to travel to the Far East as required to meet with their factories/suppliers
* Supplier and Logistics Management - Experience in handling factory clearances, shipment coordination, and managing international supply chains, specifically dealing with manufacturers in the Far East – ideal
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships with suppliers and internal teams.
* Strong negotiation abilities to secure competitive pricing and favourable terms with suppliers.
* Strong analytical skills to assist with market and product analysis, as well as pricing strategies.
