Customs Team Leader - Aylesbury

Pertemps Aylesbury is currently recruiting for an experienced Customs Team Leader for our client based in Aylesbury.

As Customs Clearance Team Leader you will have responsibility for successful operation of our Customs Clearance team and ensuring full compliance with all HMRC / Border Forces rules and regulations.

Hours: Mon-Fri 9 am-5 pm

Salary: up to £45,000 (DOE)

Duties:

- To ensure the Clearance Team and their operation is fully compliant with all HMRC & Border Force's legal regulation.
- To be pro-active in resolving any HMRC/Border Force related queries/problems
- Ensuring full compliance of all documentation and all HMRC/Border Force updates, either via systems or manual.
- Maintain accurate filing & archiving of all Import & Export records and ensure all relevant records for operating
- Demonstrate high levels of Customer care and excellent interpersonal skills.
- The Customs Clearance Team Leader will need to report out on the performance of the department to their line manager and where possible, suggest improvements that will enhance the company's profit margins, as well as work closely with senior management as and when required.
- Manage Carriers and handling agents to resolve exceptions and discrepancies as they arise.
- To assist Head of Compliance & Security with new or re-authorisations and updates to existing authorisations.
- Have the ability to organise schedules, track deliveries and deal with problems arising from non-deliveries and issues that may be delicate.
- Answer general queries from customers, suppliers' and internal colleagues.

Requirements:

- Good working knowledge of customs formalities and legislation on both import and export and good understanding of CFSP & ETSF
- Knowledge of NCTS or CDS would be advantageous but not essential.
- Must have good IT skills and understanding of Microsoft Office, Excel, Word, Outlook, E-Customs.
- Knowledge of customs procedure and laws
- Your own transport due to the location
