A brilliant opportunity for a Quantity Surveyor in the Kent area!
Currently looking for a sharp, strong and technically proficient Quantity Surveyor to join my client in the Kent area. They are a well established Contractor, who provide a full service covering the fields of Structural framing systems (SFS), stud partitioning & wall linings, demountable suspended ceilings, glazed partitioning and acoustic wall & ceiling panels. In fact, a full interior fit-out package!
You will be working closely with the experienced Commercial Team. They have a number of exciting projects currently in motion, as well as some new jobs starting nearer the end of the year.
Responsibilities:
• Improve the Quantity Surveying systems and processes.
• To consult with the Client / Suppliers and Manufacturers as well as others to determine the scenic and scope requirements for a particular project, and to discuss with them any issues arising out of this process.
• To produce monthly valuations, control weekly wage booking, deal with wage queries, price variations, manage non-recoverable costs and other information as required for successful surveying of each project.
• Monitor cash collection on regular basis and to report any updates to the project(s) progress.
• To seek information from Suppliers and manufacturers (i.e. product lead times / technical literature and material rates / consumptions) and others to ensure the variations/non-recoverable costs are as accurate as practicably possible.
• Attend Mid-Tender, Pre-Order, Pre-Start and Design Team meetings (as required) – Offices, Clients and Architects HQ’s and On Site.
• To be aware of the current Health & Safety Legislation and other legal requirements affecting the areas of responsibility. This should include, but is not limited to, risk assessment, manual handling and the compilation of appropriate documentation to support any steps taken.
• Any other task appropriate to this role as required by the Management and Surveying Department.
• Continual review of organizations project successes and failures – ensure all relevant parties are updated.
Qualifications:
• At least 3 years experience in Quantity Surveying
• Strong background and work experience in Construction
• Excellent organizational and time management skills
• Good level of Education (probably to degree level)
• A high level of numeracy including trigonometry, algebra and mechanics
• A high level of reasoning ability
• Pro-active and flexible approach to work
• Ability to work under own initiative
• Excellent computer skills and proficient in excel, word, outlook, and access
• Excellent communication skills both verbal and written UK English
• 3 plus years experience in internal drylining, screeding, suspended ceilings, lightweight steel framing, insulated render systems, render systems, rainscreen cladding systems and curtain walling, windows & doors and other miscellaneous trades
• A comprehensive knowledge of construction materials, their properties and uses
• A good knowledge of appropriate regulations and Health & Safety legislation
• Ability to source information and keep up to date with new technologies
• A demonstrated commitment to high professional ethical standards and a diverse workplace
• Excels at operating in an fast pace, construction environment
• Ability to look at situations from several points of view
• A team player and a problem solver
• Persuasive with details and facts
• High comfort level working in a diverse environment
• Self motivated and able to take delegated authority
