The below job description will outline this position of: Field Engineer

Typically, this person will work as a part of a Navigation Systems team providing planned, preventive maintenance as well as providing support to projects and out of hours cover on an on call rota basis.

Duties and responsibilities of the Field Engineer:

• Diagnose and resolve faults across all sensor systems promptly and efficiently.
• Maintain the continuous operation of all navigation system sensors, including radar, radios, AIS, CCTV, warning lights, tide gauges, and meteorological sensors to ensure port safety.
• Install, monitor, and maintain navigation system sensors and related equipment whilst also assisting with the maintenance and replacement plans for field equipment.
• Research, specify, and help procure replacement equipment, services, or systems.
• Lead or significantly contribute to equipment replacement projects.
• Create and update technical and safety documentation, including risk assessments and asset records.
• Supervise on-site work, ensuring compliance with HSE regulations and organizational requirements.

Qualifications and requirement for the Field Engineer :

• In-depth technical knowledge of electrical, electronic, and computer-based systems, including telecommunications, RADAR, radio, and microwave engineering.
• Proficient in IP networking and IT for configuring and maintaining sensor systems.
• Physically fit and able to pass medical evaluations.
• Able to obtain and maintain required security clearances (BPSS, CTC).
• Flexible, with the ability to work out of hours and participate in an on-call rota.
• Degree in an electronic engineering or related discipline.
• Minimum 5 years’ hands on experience in a comparable role or setting
• Full UK drivers Licence
