Job Summary

Alecto Recruitment seeking a skilled and experienced HGV Mechanic to join a family-run haulage and transport company based in Washington, Tyne & Wear. The ideal candidate will be responsible for servicing, maintaining, and repairing the fleet of HGVs, ensuring they meet safety standards, legal requirements, and operational efficiency.

We are seeking a reliable HGV Fitter, who has the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, to join a team of experienced Commercial Technicians.

Responsibilities and Duties

Perform inspections, servicing routines, and repairs on vehicles.
Diagnose and identify faults across a wide range of vehicles.
Conduct vehicle safety inspections to the highest standards.
Contribute to maintaining a safe and efficient workshop environment.
Prepare vehicles for MOT and ensure they are ready for testing.
Interpret diagnostic data and use electrical wiring diagrams to assess system functionality.
Test the operation of repaired and newly fitted components.
Order and source vehicle parts, draft emails, create documents, and perform web-based searches as required.

Qualifications and Skills

Must have at least class 1 licence
At least 2 years experience working on HGV or PSV
NVQ or equivalent preferred(HGV Engineer/HGV Technician/HGV Fitter/HGV Mechanic/PSV Mechanic/PSV Technician/PSV Engineer/Diesel Fitter/Diesel Mechanic/Heavy Goods Vehicle/Public Service Vehicle)
