This encompasses everything from construction projects and healthcare planning to waste management, housekeeping, transport and security. Essentia employs around 1,900 people, who provide essential facilities management support to clinical teams working across the acute hospital of Guy’s and St Thomas’, Royal Brompton and Harefield as well as the South East London Community and other partner Trusts. The Job Summary - Executive Director of Property and Compliance
This is a position which will be key to the Trust’s role as leader and influencer in South East London and to achieving Essentia’s strategic ambitions. The role is highly autonomous requiring interpretations of national policies and is responsible for providing leadership in delivering the Trust capital ambitions, estate development plan, compliance & assurance, property investments and space management strategy. The role holder will be is a key member of the Essentia Executive team and is accountable for the delivery of highly technical specialist assurance and professional services.
The successful candidate will manage a team of circa 70 employees who will deliver programmes to the value of £60 - £80m per annum liaising closely with medical stakeholders to ensure that projects are completed on time and within agreed budgets.
They will lead and direct the development, implementation and evaluation of the Trust’s integrated short, medium and long-term property and space strategy, ensuring the most beneficial approach is taken to owning and using the Trust’s property portfolio, to ensure it makes the optimum contribution to the objectives, ambitions and goals of the Trust. Aiming to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the estate, rationalising property where appropriate and optimising the use and value of the assets. They will also be required to manage positive commercial relationships with tenant organisations and landlords, and good relationships with neighbouring developments and local councils, influencing and negotiating on the delivery of services, dealing regularly with and resolving hostile and antagonistic situations.
Requirements for the position of Executive Director of Property and Compliance
Professional qualification in architecture, surveying or other construction related discipline. Relevant Masters or MBA qualification, or equivalent professional qualification or experience. Evidence of continued professional and managerial development.
Relevant professional registration eg architect, engineering, surveying or in construction or design. Expert in project management in a design or construction context.
Extensive, successful track record of leadership and achievement at a senior level in a relevant field in a large, complex environment.
Experience of formulating long term, organisation-wide strategic plans and development of projects resulting in positive value for money outcomes.
Experience of organisation-wide policy development, interpreting legislative and other requirements.
Extensive experience of delivering successful design solutions in comparable environments.
Able to demonstrate previous success in providing innovative and creative property solutions.
Understanding of the planning, scheduling and management of operational systems within a complex environment.
