Role Purpose 

Lead on the development and implementation of the Borough’s Violence against Women and Girls (VAWG) Strategy that includes: All Domestic Abuse, irrespective of gender, Honour Based Violence, Forced Marriage, Female Genital Mutilation, Exploitation including Modern Slavery, Sexual Exploitation (Child and Adult).

Responsibilities 

To be responsible for the selection, development and performance of the staff supporting domestic abuse activities, including interim staff funded by grant, in line with the Council’s HR policies.
To ensure all team members receive the appropriate level of communication to maintain engagement with the Council’s activities.
Lead the strategic and operational development and performance management of domestic abuse programmes, including project staff from other organisations. This includes delivery of excellent, value for money services in compliance with budgetary, statutory and professional practice responsibilities.
To develop a performance management culture, ensuring high standards of customer care, conduct and performance are met, taking appropriate actions to proactively address shortfalls in performance standards.
To lead on managing change, new ways of working and implementing new business processes, ensuring that performance does not deteriorate whilst improvement is embedded.
Through training and personal development to create a competent, resilient and multi-skilled team.

Requirements 

Extensive experience of managing a team responsible for delivering domestic abuse / VAWG programmes, working closely with partners in a multi-agency setting, using risk based assessments.
Experience working in a council or housing association
Significant experience in preparation, management and control of large complex budgets
An advanced level of knowledge and experience of domestic abuse and associated relevant legislation.
Educated to degree or diploma level in a relevant area, or equivalent and relevant operational experience

Contract

Initial 3 to 6 month ongoing contract with the opportunity 
PAYE via Umbrella 
Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm (Hybrid position)
