Astute's Nuclear team is retained by a global engineering and design manufacture leader working in heavily regulated industries such as nuclear. They develop sensors and instrumentation and control solutions for harsh environments and mission critical applications when safety and reliability matter. They are recruiting a Mechanical Engineer out of their Wimborne office on a full time basis, with hybrid working arrangements.
The Mechanical Engineer will provide robust engineering solutions and services across a range of mechanical projects, and comes with a salary upto £45,000 per annum, and a wide range of great benefits.

Responsibilities and duties
Reporting to the Senior Mechanical Engineer you will:
Develop mechanical solutions for diverse projects, utilizing principles of mechanics, thermodynamics, hydraulics, and material science as needed.
Apply analytical methods and recognized tools to mitigate potential design and process failures.
Ensure design solutions comply with industry standards, including nuclear regulations such as ASME.
Design and conduct appropriate methods for product evaluation, including design, development, verification, and validation processes.
Prepare technical evaluations and engineering assessments of proposed design solutions.
Produce technical drawings for manufacturing and installation in accordance with national and international standards.
Create technical documentation and reports to support the manufacturing process as required.
Collaborate technically with customers and suppliers.
Enhance professional and technical expertise by attending educational workshops, reviewing industry publications, building networks, and engaging in professional societies.
Provide clear progress updates to project managers.
Professional qualifications
We are looking for someone with the following:
Holding a qualification in Mechanical, Automotive, Aerospace Engineering or similar.
Personal skills
The Mechanical Engineer role would suit someone who is:
Experienced working in design and asseblly of products within a highly regulated sector (Automotive, Aerospace, Nuclear, Medical Science, Chemical Production, Pharmaceutical, etc).
Working knowledge of 3D modelling sotware.
Knowledge of analytical simulation techniques such as FEA, CFD, etc.
