About the role:

We are looking for a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant with a specialism in SEMH needs (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) to join our nurturing and inclusive school in Cheshunt, London. This is a full-time, long-term role that offers the chance to work closely with children who need extra support to thrive academically and socially.

As an SEN Teaching Assistant focusing on SEMH needs, you will work closely with students across Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 who are experiencing challenges such as anxiety, depression, or behavioural difficulties. Your role will be to offer personalised support, helping these children to manage their emotions, build self-esteem, and fully engage with their learning.

You will work in small groups or on a 1:1 basis, delivering tailored interventions, supporting the teacher in delivering the curriculum, and helping to create a safe and supportive classroom environment.

Application Requirements:

• Previous experience working with children with SEMH needs.
• Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection policies.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• A patient, compassionate, and empathetic approach to working with children.
• A team player who is flexible and willing to adapt to changing needs.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide 1:1 and group support for students with SEMH needs.
• Assist students in managing their emotions and developing social skills.
• Help implement individual learning plans tailored to each child’s needs.
• Collaborate with the class teacher and SENCO to ensure a consistent approach.
• Contribute to creating a positive, inclusive classroom atmosphere.
• Monitor and report on the progress of students, celebrating successes and addressing areas for improvement.
