IT Network Engineer (SDWAN & MPLS Experience)
Salary: £41,600 per annum

Our client, a key player in the rail industry, is seeking a talented IT Network Engineer to join their team on a permanent basis. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced professional with strong expertise in SDWAN and MPLS technologies, looking to support and drive a major business transformation programme.
About the Role:
As part of the IT Network Team, you will be responsible for Business-as-Usual (BAU) operations and delivering on a range of project activities. The business is transitioning from a traditional MPLS network to SDWAN technology, with a specific focus on Fortinet SDWAN solutions.
For the next 2 years, the existing MPLS network will continue to run while the transition to SDWAN takes place. This role will be pivotal in ensuring the continuity of network operations while also being actively involved in the rollout and migration to the new SDWAN infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee and maintain the current MPLS network, ensuring smooth day-to-day operations.
Support the SDWAN (Fortinet) migration as part of a large-scale transformation project.
Troubleshoot, resolve network issues, and perform routine BAU tasks.
Contribute to the planning, design, and implementation of network solutions.
Collaborate with other IT teams to ensure successful project delivery and system integration.
Ensure network performance, security, and reliability throughout the transition period.
What We’re Looking For:
Proven experience in MPLS and SDWAN technologies, ideally Fortinet however all technologies will be considered.
Strong understanding of network infrastructure, protocols, and security.
Experience in both BAU network support and project-based work.
Ability to manage and prioritize tasks in a dynamic, changing environment.
Excellent problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to network challenges.
Rail sector experience is desirable, but applicants from all industries are encouraged to apply.
