The Regional Sales Manager Role Reporting to the Regional Business Manager, this hands-on external sales team management position focuses on driving high-performance levels across the region. You will be responsible for coaching, goal setting, and developing the sales team in alignment with our strategic objectives and company sales processes, whilst playing an active role in helping manage and develop key accounts. Your role is ultimately designed to expand our customer base and drive regional sales growth. Regional Sales Manager Core Responsibilities
Manage a portfolio of agreed Key accounts, ensuring their sales and GP are maximized according to specific account plans
Attending senior sales management meetings to contribute to company strategy and propose innovative ideas
Collaborate with senior leadership to shape and develop culture, values, and a coherent vision
Work with senior management to execute a strategy for sustainable growth in your region
Take the lead in coordinating customer tenders to achieve the best proposition for customers
Oversee the development of individual sales plans and the implementation of new sales initiatives, strategies, and programs
Conduct monthly sales meetings and individual performance reviews with the sales team
Manage, motivate, and mentor field-based sales teams, advocating for Macfarlane's sales processes and customer value propositions
Provide performance coaching, including regular 1-1s, meetings, shadowing (field accompaniment activities), and ad hoc support for team members as needed for their development
Lead recruitment campaigns for your region as required
Ensure the sales team is fully trained and embraces the use of all sales tools to differentiate our value proposition with customers
Establish strategic relationships with key suppliers to stay updated on the latest products and innovations
Do you have the right profile? We welcome applications from experienced external/field-based sales team managers with a background in managing key customers and a B2B field-based sales team. You should possess strong leadership skills, the ability to drive performance, motivate teams, and provide people-centric management. Prior experience in delivering coaching, mentoring, and setting/monitoring KPIs is essential. Confidence in setting, forecasting, and monitoring sales budgets, high organizational skills, and adaptability to dynamic sales environments are crucial. While packaging sector experience is always advantageous, it is not mandatory as full training on our products/solutions and market can be provided. Please note a valid driving license is however essential, and applicants will ideally reside within the Scottish Central Belt region itself.
