Job Vacancy: Design Technology Teacher

Description of the Role:
Simply Education are currently looking for an enthusiastic and skilled Design Technology Teacher to join a thriving secondary school in Salford. This role presents an excellent opportunity for a creative individual to inspire students to develop their practical and theoretical knowledge in Design Technology. You will play a key role in helping students gain a deep understanding of the subject, equipping them with the skills needed for both academic and vocational success.
The ideal candidate will have a passion for Design Technology and the ability to engage students in a variety of areas including product design, engineering, and creative technologies. The successful candidate will join a supportive team within a school committed to delivering high-quality education in an inclusive environment.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Plan, deliver, and assess lessons in Design Technology, ensuring they are engaging, challenging, and appropriate for all students.
Provide high-quality teaching that encourages student creativity, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
Develop differentiated lesson plans to meet the diverse needs of students and ensure progress for all abilities.
Utilize a wide range of resources and technologies to support the teaching of Design Technology.
Monitor and assess student progress, providing constructive feedback and reports to both students and school leadership.
Ensure that health and safety standards are maintained in the classroom, particularly in the workshop and practical areas.
Support students in their project work, helping them develop skills in research, design, and making.
Promote a positive, inclusive classroom environment where all students feel confident and motivated.
Collaborate with colleagues within the department and across the school to develop and enhance the Design Technology curriculum.
Maintain strong relationships with students, fostering a passion for Design Technology and encouraging personal development.
Applicant Requirements:
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent (e.g. PGCE in Design Technology or a related subject).
Proven experience teaching Design Technology at secondary level (preferably in Key Stage 3 and 4).
A strong understanding of the Design Technology curriculum, with a focus on product design, engineering, and CAD/CAM technologies.
Experience working with students with diverse learning needs and the ability to differentiate effectively.
Strong classroom management skills and the ability to create a positive and safe learning environment.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work effectively within a team and independently.
Enhanced DBS check (we can assist with this if necessary).
