This role requires flexibility during our busy season is key with regards to hours and days worked.

We are looking for a Senior Gardener to undertake the following duties on a day-to-day basis:

Key Responsibilities

Lawn Care - Ensure lawns are mowed and maintained to standards required for all the properties including Returfing and fertilizer application.
Shrub and Herbaceous Border Maintenance - Ensure shrubs and borders are maintained to the standards required for all the properties
Seasonal Bedding - Prepare beds for each season, pot plants and ensure weeding is up to date and maintained. Responsible for the erection of fencing (rabbit guards)
Maintenance of all types of Paths - Maintenance of the gravel paths, including leveling/raking and repairing any damage making sure weed and moss free and non slippery. Snow clearance and salting during winter months.
Frost Protection - Wrapping of plants when frost forecasted and exercising knowledge of weather conditions and plant protection in determining is the appropriate time to unwrap plants
Strimming - Strimming where required.
Fruit/Tree/Wall/Vine- Ensure frost protection, netting of fruits and feeding of soil
Hedge Cutting - Maintain all hedging.
Vegetable garden and greenhouse, care and maintenance.Knowledge/Experience/Skills/Abilities

Previous garden maintenance experience
Garden maintenance work including operation of garden machinery
Spraying course PA1 Foundation and PA6 Hand Held sprayer
Course in chainsaw maintenance / crosscutting
City & Guilds NVQ in amenity horticulture or equivalent qualification
Extensive plant knowledge
Valid UK Driver's LicensePersonal Attributes

Must have an interest in gardening and plants
Team player - must have experience in working within a team and must have a preference for working in a team environment where information sharing, good communication and mutual support are all pre-requisites
Conducts themselves in a professional and efficient manner and is flexible to handle variety of tasks and change
Displays personality traits of enthusiasm, honesty, discretion, initiative and flexibility
Ability to work in all weather conditions
