A Senior Mechanical Engineer is required for an international Defence and Weapons Systems Company that is expanding their team. Hybrid and flexible working arrangements is available for this position. The Senior Mechanical Engineer salary and seniority will depend on your skills and experience. Some business travel is required but expenses for this will be covered.
The Senior Mechanical Engineer will report into the Technical Lead and will be part of the Mechanical Engineering team and will be involved in supporting technical changes to existing company products (i.e Defence and Weapons Systems). The Senior Mechanical Engineer will work within Mechanical Engineering, Design, Tests & Trials and will have the opportunity to shape the next generation of defence/weapons platforms & future technologies.
Key Duties and Responsibilities for the Senior Mechanical Engineer
Lead the development of solutions to technical mechanical issues as a member of a project team, reporting to Technical Leads and directly to the customer.
Lead and/or support mechanical solutions to production and manufacturing technical queries raised by suppliers, internal stakeholders (i.e. Operations Team) and non-conformance reports within required project time frames.
Developing mechanical design solutions based on customer requirements, validating, and verifying through the design process.
Review and check design work and technical reports, providing help and direction to less experienced mechanical engineers.
Carrying out technical analysis and investigations and preparing reports with suggested recommendations to support the resolution of problems and the improvement of the mechanical engineering capability.
Key Skills, Experience and Qualifications Required for the Senior Mechanical Engineer
Educated to degree level or equivalent in a relevant discipline, or good experience within engineering.
Experience writing and reviewing technical engineering reports and specifications.
Design experience in a multi-disciplined, production and/or manufacturing environment, answering technical queries and non-conformance reports.
Experience with mechanical structural/stress analysis and knowledge of product data management.
Working knowledge of technical processes, standards and standard instructions such as Engineering Life Cycle Models.
Familiarity with engineering drawing standards and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T)
Ideally some working experience using CAD software (CREO) and PLM software (Teamcenter).
Ideally some production, manufacturing, machining, welding, casting and or assembly experience.
