Engine Builder

Duration: 6 Months +

Rates: £17.00 per hour PAYE / £22.44 Umbrella

Shift: Monday - Friday, Days

Orion Rail are looking for an Engine Builder with a knowledge and understanding of working on Diesel Engines.

Do you have previous experience as an Engine Builder working on any of the following vehicles; HGV / PSV / Heavy Plant / Rail Diesel Traction or Military vehicles? Reach out to us, as we would love to speak with you!

As the Engine Builder your primary responsibility is to conduct engineering practises to complete full and partial engine builds for large diesel traction system. This role requires a strong understanding of vehicle mechanics, hydraulics, and the ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining safety and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities & Activities for the Engine Builder:

To be able to strip and re-build all the mechanical components of an engine, as per the work instruction

Responsible for ensuring your own health and safety and that of others and promoting a positive health and safety culture within the workplace

Ensure all Health and safety obligations are met, and company policies are adhered to

Report any safety concerns, hazard observations, accidents and incidents by the end of that shift to allow full investigation and prevent re-occurrence

As the Engine Builder you will need to read and interpret assembly specifications and manuals, to plan assembly and build operations.

The ability to verify conformance of parts to stock lists, using measuring instruments such as callipers, gauges, and micrometers.

To report any failures / faults identified

Qualifications required for the Engine Builder position: 

Minimum requirements NVQ / City and Guilds Level 3

Full apprenticeship in a Mechanical discipline
