FTH Hire Group is one of the largest and fastest growing independent plant and tool hire companies in the UK, with nineteen depots across the South of England, Wales and Scotland. As a result of our expansion plans, we are continuously looking to take on additional high calibre team members.
As the Transport Router, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of delivery / exchange and collection of all the hired plant machinery. You will also plan and control the operations team as well as allocate vehicles efficiently.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinate the day-to-day logistical operations for 7.5T and Class 2 vehicles
- Maximize efficiency in all areas of the operation including labour/vehicle usage/route planning
- Ensure that vehicles are maintained in line with operator license requirements
- Manage the drivers and on-site admin
- Overall management of transport operations ensuring all service, operational and legal standards are met, and excellent customer relationships are maintained
- Schedule and route plan for work to be completed
- Keep drivers and clients updated in regard to any traffic issues or delays in deliveries
- Ensure all deliveries are completed in agreed timescales
- Handle any complaints and resolve issues where possible
- Ensure vehicles are inspected by relevant garages every 8 weeks
- Manage the capacity for the transport and communicate effectively to the teams on a live basis
- Forecast and communicate stock on the highly utilised items
- First port of call for stock availability
- Work closely with all depots in regard to highlighting stock availability
- Plan for bookings taken in advance to ensure availability
- Adaptable attitude as plan B & C are a regular occurrence due to constant changing demands and absenteeism
- Communicate where necessary with sales team if there is a change to an order or in the event of a delivery being late so that customer is updated
- Ensure the Yard Stock takes are done daily
- Keep the yard(s) within the maximum amount of machinery in accordance with the Yard Safety plan to ensure Workplace safety requirements are met.
- Liaise with the yard and workshop teams to ensure stock is made available in a timely manner
- Work within the SLA and KPI’s
- Lorries to be loaded night before so that they are ready to leave early next morning.
Working Hours – Monday to Friday 7am to 5pm
