Senior Systems Engineer (Algorithms) - Electronics - Tewkesbury - £55-70K

Role Description and Purpose:  

Senior Engineer with accountability for development of algorithms & mathematics to support the operation of inertial sensing tools. 

Key contributor, recommender and evaluator relating to sensor choice & sensor pack design for all inertial sensing products produced by OBI globally. 

Responsible for upskilling of global engineering & software development teams in considerations relating to signal processing to deliver meaningful inertial measurements in real-world applications. 
Key Accountabilities

-    Key engineering contributor to delivery on OBI Geospatial product roadmap
-    Key engineering input to ensure that OBI Geospatial produces a suite of market leading measurement technology
-    Ensuring that OBI Geospatial measurement performance meets & exceeds the needs of the market
-    Contributing to product requirements setting – including shaping requirements to meet both customer needs and 
-    Principle source of knowledge on the application of inertial sensing technology to deliver measurement products 
-    Standard setting for testing, evaluation & design of inertial sensing engineering
-    Leveraging global peers & engineering resources to delivery against product roadmap and market expectation for geospatial sensor advancement without reporting line authority

Demonstrated experience in working with inertial sensors & related technology such as AHRS, Northseeking function, Servo control & Gimbal stabilisation

C++ experience with strong understanding of object-orientated programming & designing application interfaces

Systems Engineering Degree or
Applied Mathematics Degree

>5 years in relevant industries, 10+ years total experience.

Relevant Industries include: Aerospace, Defence, Automotive Navigation / Autonomous vehicles, UAVS, Wearable Tech, Extractive industry downhole tool design.

Direct experience with Navigation systems or inertial sensors would be highly beneficial. Kalman filter experience is useful.

Demonstrated history of delivery in decentralised organisations; with or without reporting line accountability.

Demonstrated history of customer centricity & commercial acumen highly valued
