A Technical Buyer is needed by a growing company to establish a focused purchasing function within the company and grow and develop it

This is a brand-new role for the company, reporting to the Finance Manager, initially this position will be responsible for leading the planning and implementation of an ERP / MRP system within the business.

Key duties include:

Managing all aspects of materials supply into and through the business. Identifying and mitigating supply chain risks.
Purchasing and expediting materials and parts according to production schedule
Managing and developing new and existing supplier relationships, managing all negotiations around supplier T&C's
Monitor supplier performance and manage non-conformances
Analysing inventory and controlling stock levels ensuring effective levels for the business
Ensure quality, service level, price and supply logistics meet commercial and internal customers' needs
Participate in continuous improvement activities to improve purchasing procedures and increase efficiency
Identify and deliver further opportunities to reduce overall supply chain costs
Play an active role in NPI from a procurement perspective
Work closely with Engineering to ensure material is delivered accurately and on time.Skills and Experience:
It is essential that the successful candidate has a previous experience implementing or developing an ERP / MRP system such as SAP from the ground-up, including optimising procurement processes. In addition, we are looking for:

A team orientated, can do, positive outlook.
HNC / HND / degree level in a technical discipline.
Must have previous experience as a Buyer, Senior Buyer or Strategic Buyer within a manufacturing or engineering business.
Experience of materials purchasing especially steel, aluminium and other metals
A strong understanding and experience with MRP/ ERP systems.
Technical background, able to read engineering drawings.
Ability to take ownership and be driven to achieve results.
The ability to use and understand, planning and procurement data / parameters to drive decision making.
Capable of working under-pressure in a fast-paced environment.
Good time keeping, prioritisation and workload management skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
Proactive in suggesting new methods and techniques to improve efficiency.
Any experience of signs and medium to large digital displays would be an advantage
SAP experience would be desirable as would a CIPS qualification.This is a great opportunity to shape the procurement function of a growing company and is a remote working opportunity
