SEMH Behaviour Teaching Assistant
Location: Newham
Salary: £90-£100 per day (Depending on Experience)
Start Date: 6th January 2025
Hours: 8.30 am - 4.00 pm
Contract Type: Long-Term, Full-Time

GSL Education are seeking an enthusiastic SEMH Behaviour Teaching Assistant to join a dynamic school in Newham. This role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on students' learning and well-being. In this role, you will work closely with students who face SEMH challenges, supporting their emotional and behavioural development within the classroom environment. You will help create a positive and safe learning atmosphere where students feel motivated and engaged.

SEMH Behaviour Teaching Assistant Responsibilities:

Provide one-to-one and small-group support to students with SEMH needs.
Assist in implementing behaviour management strategies to promote positive behaviours in the classroom.
Support students in managing their emotions and improving their social skills.
Help to create and maintain an inclusive, nurturing environment for students with SEMH challenges.
Work closely with the SENCO and other staff members to develop and implement individualised behaviour plans.
Provide support to students in overcoming barriers to learning caused by SEMH issues.
Help students engage with the curriculum through tailored support and differentiated activities.
Promote self-esteem and build trusting relationships with students.
Track and monitor student progress, providing regular feedback to teachers and parents.
Support students during transitions and assist with personal care where needed.
Encourage students to take responsibility for their behaviour and learning.
Maintain a safe and orderly environment, following the school’s safeguarding and behavioural guidelines.
Requirements:

Experience working with children, particularly those with SEMH needs as an SEMH Behaviour Teaching Assistant, is highly desirable.
CACHE Level 2 or 3, NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Childcare or Teaching Assistance, or similar qualifications are preferred.
A degree in Psychology, Education, or a related field is beneficial.
Strong understanding of SEMH needs and experience in implementing behaviour management techniques.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to build rapport with students and staff.
Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
Passion for supporting students with additional emotional and behavioural challenges.
