Post: Communications and Marketing Officer

Responsible to: Director

Salary: £27,344 FTE (Scale 6, point 18)

Actual Salary: £14,583.47 (20 hours pro rata)

Hours: Part time 20 hours (over 3 days per week)

Holidays: 24 days pro rata per year plus public holidays

Pension: 5% employer + 3% employee

Fixed term contract: 12 months from date of start, continuation subject to funding.

Main purpose of the post:

• To work with the Director and SLDAS Board of Trustees on the delivery of the charity's Communications strategy as we look to grow our portfolio and engagement with supporters.

• This role will develop online and offline communications to maximise digital, marketing and media opportunities; in line with SLDAS Communications Strategy, Objectives and wider strategic objectives.

Role Overview:

We are looking for a creative self-starter to work directly with the Director and Board of Trustees on the delivery of the charity's Communications strategy as we look to grow our portfolio and engagement with supporters.

This role will develop online and offline communications to maximise digital, marketing and media opportunities; in line with SLDAS Communications Strategy and wider strategic objectives.

This is a role that offers real scope, challenge and reward and the chance to contribute and enhance an organisation supporting survivors of domestic abuse.

You will need to be confident in representing SLDAS externally, raising our profile and maintain and build strong working relationships.

You will be responsible for managing SLDAS social media and website with regular updates and daily posting across social media.

Job Description

Communications, Community and Marketing

* Respond to community fundraising enquiries, including individuals, community, and corporate supporters as necessary.

* To help identify media opportunities and to maximise positive media coverage

* To coordinate and produce monthly newsletters for stakeholders/Board/Website.

* Responding quickly and sensitively to current events.

* To identify media and case study opportunities

* Plan and organise small fundraising events.

* Research, approach and secure new corporate partnerships and develop fundraising opportunities.

* To develop, maintain and provide a coordinated approach to, external presentations and displays.

* Attend fundraising events in the local community with volunteers/staff (some of which may be in the evenings or at the weekends).

* Raise awareness of SLDAS across social media.

* Take the lead on updating SLDAS website regularly regarding support, fundraising events, drop in/coffee morning sessions and group.

* Join the SLDAS Finance, Planning and fundraising Subgroup.

General

* Manage own workload

* Work within SLDAS policies and procedures, with particular regard to Safeguarding, Health & Safety, Equal Opportunities, Data Privacy and Confidentiality

* Fulfil any other duties considered reasonable as directed by the Director and Board of Trustees

* To contribute to team meetings and organisational priorities, to prepare and participate in supervision and appraisal meetings as required.

Person Specification

Experience (Application, Interview, Presentation)

Experience of managing social media accounts/website for organisation.

Outstanding verbal and IT skills and the ability to influence decision making

Experience of organising small fundraising events

Proven ability to communicate effectively and sensitively with a range of audiences

Experience of managing successful relationships to secure repeat funding over time

Experience of working within the voluntary sector

Experience of digital, corporate and donor fundraising

Skills (Application, Interview)

Ability to communicate clearly, concisely and diplomatically

Literacy, IT skills, numeracy and report writing

Well-developed writing style

Skilled and experience in monitoring, performance evaluation and reporting

Proficient in the use of Office 365 suite of products

Knowledge (Application, Interview)

Understanding the importance of inclusion & equality in developing community-based work as a public service.

Understanding the importance of confidentiality in community-based settings

Understanding of capacity-building as a key step for personal and professional development

Awareness of domestic abuse and the impact it has on individuals

Qualifications (Application, Certificates)

Educated in; media skills, marketing or similar qualification

DBS Disclosure at Enhanced level will be required prior to any offer of employment and this post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974.

Must be eligible to work in the UK.
