Assistant Project Manager – Construction
Location: Bury St Edmunds
Salary: £45k+ package (Car/Car Allowance, Pension, Bonus)
Fairmead are recruiting on behalf of a valued client for an Assistant Project Manager to join a well-established construction contractor with a strong pipeline of projects across East Anglia and beyond. This is a fantastic opportunity for an ambitious individual looking to gain hands-on experience, take on increasing responsibility, and develop into a full-time Project Manager.
The Role
The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering a range of small works schemes, including fire protection projects, that have grown into larger, more complex developments. With a diverse portfolio across retail, commercial, and hospitality, this role offers exposure to high-profile projects and the chance to work with an experienced and supportive team.
Key Responsibilities
* Assisting in the planning, coordination, and execution of construction projects
* Managing subcontractors and site teams to ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget
* Overseeing multiple small works schemes while progressing towards larger project responsibilities
* Ensuring all work meets industry standards, health & safety regulations, and quality expectations
* Liaising with clients, consultants, and internal teams to maintain strong working relationships
Requirements
* Degree in Construction Management or a related field
* SMSTS, First Aid, and CSCS (Managerial Level – Black/White/Red)
* Experience in small works project management within the construction sector
* Strong organisational and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects
* A proactive and ambitious mindset, with a desire to progress into a full-time Project Manager role
