Our client, a leading aerospace and defence precision engineering company in Glasgow, is seeking an exceptional CMM Inspector to join their Quality department.
Your Key Responsibilities
Conduct comprehensive first-off, interim, and batch inspections of high-precision machined components using state-of-the-art coordinate measuring machines
Select appropriate CMM stylus configurations, extension bars, and probe heads to achieve optimal measurement accuracy and accessibility
Develop bespoke metrology fixtures and datum referencing systems to ensure repeatable part alignment and GD&T verification
Generate detailed inspection reports including Form & Profile analysis, Surface Finish measurements, and dimensional compliance to BS 8888 standards
Analyse measurement data using Statistical Process Control (SPC) methodologies to identify process capability indices trends
Optimise CMM programming using DMIS routines to balance cycle time efficiency and measurement integrity
Calibrate and maintain precision measurement equipment in accordance with UKAS guidelines
Support continuous improvement initiatives through measurement system analysis (MSA) and gauge R&R studies
Experience & Qualifications
Proficient in PCDMIS and Calypso metrology software packages with proven programming experience
Advanced skills in interpreting complex engineering drawings with GD&T callouts to ISO standards
Extensive experience with diverse measurement techniques including touch-trigger probing, scanning, vision systems, and optical CMMs
Demonstrated capability with surface plate techniques, height gauges, micrometers, and shadowgraph equipment
HNC/HND in Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent qualification
Familiarity with ISO 9001, AS9100, or IATF 16949 quality management systems is highly desirable
Experience creating detailed measurement plans and First Article Inspection documentation
Technical Skills
Thorough understanding of measurement uncertainty principles and error compensation techniques
Proficient in interpreting and applying geometric tolerancing standards (ISO 1101)
Experienced in form measurement including roundness, straightness, flatness, and cylindricity
Capable of conducting PPAP submissions and working with quality planning tools (APQP, FMEA)
Competent with temperature-compensated measuring techniques in shop floor environments
