BAM UK&I is recruiting a Sustainability Controller that can be based from any of our UK&I offices.
Reporting to the Lead Sustainability Controller - the role will act as a link between non-financial KPI reporting and all segments; supporting in preparing sustainability reports for segments, value added management information (MI) and advice/support to facilitate improved performance, provide functional support to the Segments / Business Units and contribute to the execution of Sustainability strategy.
Your mission
The role is accountable for supporting the Lead Sustainability Controller UK&I and driving the following:
• Interfaces between Group, UK&I Division; including relevant Business Partners and Segment Finance teams if/when required.
• Ensure reporting requirements and timelines are communicated clearly to Segment sustainability teams and are well understood.
• Support Lead Sustainability Controller in analysis, review and constructive challenge to Segments/Metric Owners for the data provided for reporting. Help improve quality and controlled approach through analytical testing of the data
• Manage the input and consolidation of the UK&I Divisional non-financial submissions in SAP BPC
• Identify opportunities for continuous improvement of sustainability systems and processes to realise efficiencies and standardisation across the sustainability function
• Monitor and test the overall sustainability processes
• Provide insights to senior management around sustainability modelling, forecasts, and profitability
• Business partnering with Finance Directors and Business Controllers and support explaining the sustainability KPI movements.
• Provide support on ad-hoc projects and initiatives as and when required
• Analyse competitor and market sustainability information to provide insight to assist with decision making.
Key activities
• Work closely with metric owners to ensure robust processes in place for data collation and manipulation. Supporting in the implementation, monitoring and reporting against performance metrics
• Work closely with Segment Finance teams and Group Control to develop and implement sound sustainability planning and reporting framework that contributes to predictable sustainability performance of the business.
• Support in the provision of reliable non-finance insights to the UK&I DLT to enable sound decision making
• Promotes the capture of best practice and knowledge sharing
• Identify trends by analysing data related to environmental impact studies, carbon emissions and other sustainability metrics.
• Recommend solutions for improving corporate sustainability. Collaborate with various departments to embed sustainable practices into business operations and supply chain management.
• Develop and implement strategies to manage trends and performance management
Who are we looking for?
Financial audit experience would be valued
• Soft Skills: Strong communication, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities.
• Industry Trends: Stay updated on sustainability practices, regulations, and emerging technologies. You should be experienced with analytics and audit practices. Energised, capable and numerically strong individual that is able to get into the detail but also step back and look at the larger picture .
• Experience of basic Microsoft packages
For this position we are looking for the following competences:

• Can do attitude - Identifying problems and tracking down potential causes; recognising important information and establishing a link between different data sets; drawing correct and realistic conclusions based on the available information; summarising outcomes and reporting against performance metrics.
• Networking – Be able to formulate good working relationships within and beyond the operations/commercial/finance team. Feeling comfortable with approaching other teams and building relationships and networks which are helpful in achieving the UK&I sustainability objectives.
• Collaboration & Leadership –Having the emotional and cross-cultural intelligence and empathy, to make it easier to understand the needs others.
• Team Player - Ability to work with Finance and sustainability teams collaboratively as part of a team and actively contribute to excellence.
