About the Job:

Cloudstone-Education are working on behalf of a Secondary school based in Gateshead, who are looking to appoint a new Attendance and Welfare Officer. Whether you're teaching or in a support role, we’re looking for people who are passionate about helping our students become successful, confident, and happy young adults.

Attendance is key to students' success, and we need people who can work closely with families and students to tackle any challenges that get in the way of good attendance and engagement.

You’ll be a key part of the school community, visiting students with low attendance and their families, and helping to identify and remove barriers. You’ll also work with data, understand the challenges families face, and regularly meet with students, families, the Local Authority, and other support workers to improve attendance. You’ll also help move cases through the legal process when needed.

Strong organisation and data skills to keep everything running smoothly

The ability to work well in a team and also take initiative when needed

Experience with systems to ensure accurate attendance records

A knack for motivating students and families to improve attendance

Confidence when meeting parents/carers and discussing attendance issues

Flexibility to meet the demands of the role

Experience within education would be an advantage, but we are happy to welcome applicants with tranferable skills such as individuals that have worked within local authorities, social care, charities and childrens residential
