Our client, a well-respected charity, is looking for a Domestic Abuse Behaviour Change Worker to work within a project addressing domestic abuse by delivering a behaviour change intervention to those using abusive and unhealthy behaviours within their intimate and non-intimate relationships
Synopsis of duties:
To deliver high-quality therapeutic interventions to people using abusive/violent behaviours in their intimate and non-intimate relationships
Providing one-to-one specialist domestic abuse and complex needs assessment using specialist risk assessment tools.
To provide a high-quality and pro-active front-line service by delivering a tailored pathway of care focusing on change, safety and protection.
To empower and support individuals to make positive changes and to develop an individual support and safety plan.
To support clients in exploring and understanding the consequences and impact of their behaviours by challenging any justifications, minimisations or attitudes used.
To ensure that a high standard of information, advice and support is provided for victims and survivors.
To contribute to risk management by ensuring that any other relevant professionals are informed or any current or emerging risks posed.
To support men and women in acknowledging and addressing their unhealthy attitudes and behaviours in order to be free from domestic abuse and support them to build resilience and develop and improve their sense of confidence and self-worth.
To work in partnership with voluntary and statutory sector organisations and the community and strengthen and develop links with other services to increase collaborative working and understanding of the behaviour change services.
To forge and maintain excellent working relationships with key partners to ensure high quality support for victims and survivors and their children.
Manage a case load ensuring every clients receives the appropriate service individual to their needs.
To work collaboratively with other professionals in promoting a co-ordinated response to domestic abuse.
To participate in multi-agency meetings as required.
To make sure that client welfare is ensured in accordance with the Protection from Abuse Policy and the Local Safeguarding Children Board/Safeguarding Adults Board policies and procedures.
Remain up-to-date and compliant with all organisational procedures policies and professional codes of conduct and uphold standards of best practice.
To remain up to date on all legal and practice issues relating to the role. To keep abreast of developments in law, policy and Government initiatives in addressing domestic abuse and communicate these within the staff team
To escalate to management any cases where there are ongoing safeguarding or risk management concerns.
Ensuring that all relevant records are kept accurately and confidentially in a timely manner.
To collect data on a regular basis to support in the monitoring of the project and its outcomes.
Undertaking administrative and financial tasks and maintaining full records and receipts for all activities.
To take responsibility for the continuing of professional and self-development.
Ensuring the confidentiality of clients information is maintained in accordance with Stop Domestic Abuse Confidentiality Policy.
Assisting with providing cover for absent colleagues during periods of sickness, holidays etc as requested by a manager
To carry out other such duties as appropriate to the scope and grade of the post, as may be requested from time to time to meet the needs of clients and the service.Essential requirements
An understanding and awareness of the needs of women, men and children of all ages who have experienced domestic violence
An understanding of the complexities of partnership working and a commitment to partnership working
An understanding and knowledge of child protection and safeguarding and the ability to work within national, local and organisational guidelines
