A well-established electrical services provider, specialising in commercial and residential projects, is looking for a dynamic and experienced department lead – electrical to join their growing team. Role Overview
Reporting directly to the directors, you will oversee the electrical department’s operations, lead a team of skilled electricians and supply chain partners, and ensure projects meet statutory and regulatory standards. This role requires strong leadership, technical expertise, and commercial awareness.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage the day-to-day operations of the electrical department.
* Oversee electrical projects from planning to completion.
* Work with the estimating team to assess project feasibility and pricing.
* Organise employees and supply chain partners for nationwide project delivery.
* Collaborate with the commercial team on cost value reconciliation (CVR) forecasts.
* Support tender pricing for departmental projects.
* Ensure compliance with safety regulations, legislation, and company policies.
* Manage budgets, resources, and schedules for project profitability.
* Provide technical guidance and mentorship to team members.
* Maintain strong relationships with clients, contractors, and stakeholders.
* Track project progress and implement improvements as needed.
* Stay updated on industry advancements, regulations, and best practices.
* Oversee departmental strategy and align operations with business targets.
* Manage supplier relationships to maintain high business standards.
Requirements
* Leadership or managerial experience in the electrical industry.
* Background in electrical engineering, MEP contracting, or related fields.
* Strong commercial awareness and experience managing budgets/programmes.
* In-depth knowledge of electrical codes, safety regulations, and best practices.
* Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
* Ability to manage multiple nationwide projects and deadlines.
* Relevant qualifications (e.g., electrical engineering degree, master electrician certification).
* Experience ensuring compliance with industry bodies (IEE, NICEIC, JCT, NEC).
* Familiarity with project management tools is advantageous.
* Strong skills in change management and dispute resolution.
