We are working with a well-respected contractor with a proven track record of delivering infrastructure packages on major projects.
They have recently secured a significant work package on a project in Guildford and require an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to lead all commercial and contractual duties on the scheme.
The project has an 18-month programme and includes groundworks, deep drainage, and access roads. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, and hard-working with a ‘hands-on’ approach to work.
Possess a strong and flexible work ethic to support the needs of the business, and must have effective communication, problem-solving, and IT skills.
Key Responsibilities:
* Prepare and evaluate cost estimates, budgets, and bills of quantities for the projects.
* Conduct cost analysis and risk management for ongoing projects.
* Liaise with clients, contractors, and suppliers to ensure accurate and timely procurement of materials and services.
* Monitor project costs and progress, identifying and addressing any discrepancies.
* Prepare and present detailed reports on project financial performance.
* Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards.
* Assist in the preparation of contract documents and manage contract variations.
* Conduct site visits to assess project progress and provide accurate valuations.
Qualifications and Experience:
* Bachelor’s degree in quantity surveying.
* Minimum of 5 years of experience in quantity surveying within the Civil Engineering sector.
* Strong knowledge of construction contracts (particularly NEC4, Opt.A), cost control, and procurement processes.
* Proficient in the use of Bluebeam, MS Project software and MS Office suite.
* Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
* Strong communication and negotiation abilities.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team
* Full driving license and willingness to travel to project sites
