Nautical Science Lecturer required to join the College Nautical Science & STEM lecturing team. Based in Glasgow, you will be responsible for teaching and supporting students in a wide range of subjects including: Naval Architecture; Navigation and Marine Law; in addition to assisting with the development of student’s transferable skills through a structured training programme.
THE SUCCESSFUL APPLICANT
* Degree Level Qualification in STEM discipline or HND Nautical Science or Equivalent
* Educational teaching qualification or Train the Trainer certification (desirable)
* Experience in a teaching/training role is highly desirable.
* OOW Certificate of Competency (Unlimited) and minimum of 12 months seatime served as OOW
* Experience of working in a maritime environment.
* Passionate about supporting and motivating students.
* Ability to communicate effectively and work well as part of a team.
* Experience in a teaching or training role is highly desirable.
* Self-motivated, reliant and have a desire to teach.
* Effective interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate learning to individuals with a variety of learning needs.
JOB DESCRIPTION
* Teaching and assessment in nautical science subject areas.
* You will be involved in maintaining all relevant course and learner documentation, along with accurate records of student attendance and performance.
* Carry out evaluation of courses and monitor student progress.
* Provide advice and support to students.
* Contribute to the work of academic committees.
* Contribute to the College QM and learning support systems.
* Contribute to management and development of courses including short courses.
* Participate in College marketing and other external events.
* Undertake College consultancy and research activities.
* Act as a College representative in national developments.
* Contribute to the appropriate committees.
* Contribute to academic innovation.
* Promote the College Equality Policy in terms of staff/students.
