IFRS 17 Technical Accounting Expert
Cedar are partnering with a government department who require a IFRS 17 Technical Accounting Expert with demonstrable direct IFRS 17 practical implementation experience as well as a substantive background of creating Accounting Policy papers.
Contract: 12 months
Daily rate: £700-£800 per day Inside IR35
Location: London
Working Pattern: Hybrid - 1 to 2 days on site per week
Key responsibilities:
Provide IFRS 17 technical accounting advice and guidance and develop technical papers (where needed) in accordance with the organisations governance requirements.
Build and develop Excel spreadsheets to perform accounting and modelling calculations required to identify data gaps, validate systems outputs, and meet other Programme requirements.
Support transition execution approach and plan, covering the opening balances and comparative financial statements.
Support with Audit engagement requirements and respond to queries.
Support the implementation of the related IT solutions (including the General Ledger, IFRS 17 Calculation Engine and Sub-Ledgers), including any related processes and controls for end-to-end reporting.
Support the Finance Function in testing activity, including ensuring testing issues are resolved on a timely basis.
Support the development and implementation of the Accounting Rules, Chart of Accounts, ledger posting and IFRS 17 disclosures.
Analyse the data inputs/outputs to/from the Calculation Engine and General Ledger, ensuring the outputs meet the reporting requirements, investigating any issues and recommending potential changes.
Work closely with all stakeholders, including Delivery Partner, Auditors, and other internal and external stakeholders.
Assist in ensuring that reporting solutions used across the Finance function are fit for purpose in the roll out of IFRS 17.
Present or support presenters on financial reporting matters at training events.
As appropriate, maintain a robust control environment in accordance with good practice and the organisation's risk framework.
Provide administrative, logistical, and other support as required by Programme.
Other ad hoc tasks as required by the Project to ensure business readiness for IFRS 17 (e.g., GL data cleansing, resolving data issues, and supporting data migration).
Essential Experience
Practical IFRS 17 implementation experience.
Ability to provide IFRS 17 technical accounting advice and guidance.
Building and development of Excel models performing accounting and modelling calculations.
Preparation of Transition Accounts.
Design and support of new processes, controls, and timetable.
Design, implementation and testing of the future state systems and solutions.
Previous government or public sector is desirable but not essential
