Job Summary
We are seeking a Trainee / Graduate Quantity Surveyor to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing all costs related to building and civil engineering / Highways projects, ensuring that the project is completed within its projected budget. This role requires a strong understanding of cost control and the ability to communicate effectively with various stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
Responsibilities
* Prepare detailed cost estimates for construction projects, including materials, labour, and overheads.
* Monitor project expenditures and conduct regular cost analysis to ensure adherence to budgets.
* Collaborate with architects, engineers, and contractors to assess project requirements and specifications.
* Conduct site visits to evaluate progress and identify any potential cost overruns or delays.
* Prepare tender documents, contracts, and agreements for procurement of services and materials.
* Negotiate terms with suppliers and subcontractors to secure the best possible prices.
* Maintain accurate records of all financial transactions related to projects.
* Provide advice on contractual claims and disputes as they arise during the project lifecycle.
Requirements
* Proven experience in cost control within the construction industry is highly desirable.
* Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting.
* Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to liaise effectively with various stakeholders.
* Proficient in using quantity surveying software and Microsoft Office Suite.
* A proactive approach to problem-solving with strong organisational skills.
* Membership or eligibility for membership in a relevant professional body (e.g., RICS) is an advantage but not mandatory.
