Most people reading this ad would hate this job. Here’s some reasons you might be one of them:
* It’s hard.
* You won’t master it overnight.
* You’ll get frustrated.
* People tend not to like recruiters very much.
* Things you can’t control will go wrong.
* Things you can control will go wrong.
Being put off at this point is fair enough. Truth is I’ve seen more people fail and leave the industry than I’ve seen do really well.
If you can go through the hard yards, stay driven and use the knocks you take as learning opportunities, this is what’s on offer:
* Clear & transparent internal promotion structure – a path from trainee to director
* Full, ongoing training / coaching from scratch through to leadership.
* Base salary + uncapped monthly commission upto 40% of billings.
* Incentives including company holidays, quarterly socials, Summer/Christmas parties.
* 4-day work week – you work 4 days but get paid for 5.
* Flexible working hours including "work from home Wednesdays".
* 6 weeks holiday per year (plus bank hols) and Christmas off, always.
* Enhanced maternity and paternity pay
* Matched pension contribution upto 8%
* Private healthcare
You won’t actually need any experience at all. In some cases that can be a hinderance. Broadly, you’re likely to start by learning how to interview candidates and match them to job briefs. Over time you’ll develop the skills to become a valued consultant, advising companies on their hiring strategy and helping to map people’s career paths to help them achieve their goals in life, which can be pretty rewarding.
If you get that far there’s a good chance you’ll enjoy it and earn some really good money. As an idea, your base vs. OTE will be something like this:
* £25k - £26.5k (trainee) = £34k - £41k OTE (Y1)
* £28k - £32k (consultant) = £43.5k - £50.6k OTE (Y1-Y2)
* £32k - £36k (senior) = £50.6k - £57.7k OTE (Y2-Y3)
* £36k - £40k (principal) = £57.7k - £65.8k OTE (Y3+)
Bear in mind OTE doesn't account for overachieving. When you do that your commission rate goes up and you’ll trigger quarterly bonuses that could get you closer to £100k per year (which around 1 in 20 recruiters earn on average).
