We are seeking a dedicated Functional Skills Tutor to join our educational team within offender learning at HMP Thameside. This role offers the chance to deliver a transformative educational experience, significantly impacting learners’ lives and aiding their personal development.

Day-to-day of the role:

* Deliver inspiring lessons in Functional Skills English or Maths, raising learners’ expectations and aspirations.

* Tailor both accredited and non-accredited programmes to the needs and interests of the learners.

* Develop personalised learning plans that equip learners with essential skills, knowledge, and behaviours for positive progression.

* Create an engaging and supportive learning environment that promotes academic and personal growth.

* Assess learners’ progress regularly, providing constructive feedback and guidance.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

* Minimum Level 2 in Maths and English (GCSE grades 9 to 4, A* to C, or equivalent).

* Qualification in the specialist subject area of Functional Skills English or Maths.

* Proven effectiveness in teaching within the subject specialism.

* Level 5 teaching qualification or equivalent.

* Ability to secure and maintain a clean, enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check
