The Role:
This role is part of our Saab Seaeye Business Unit in Fareham.
Reporting to the Supply Chain Manager, the Buyer will support the Strategic Buyers in managing the day-to-day procurement activities including end-to-end supply of materials, goods, and services, ensuring timely and cost-effective procurement.
Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities:
* This role is responsible for the end-to-end supply of materials/goods and services from the placement of orders to delivery.
* Purchase all components/services required by the company in a professional manner.
* Support the Project/NPI Strategic Buyer and the Commodity (Senior) Strategic Buyers with day-to-day procurement tasks and activities, such as issuing tender requests, raising purchase orders, and maintaining ERP/MRP data.
* Actively manage the reschedule messages in line with our Material Requirement Plan (MRP) requests.
* Ensure purchase order dates are placed and maintained in line with MRP and against agreed dates from the supplier.
* Ensure that the call-off orders are monitored and actioned as appropriate.
* Ensure that supplier pricing and lead times are maintained in MRP.
* Ensure all items are purchased at the optimum combination of price, quality, and delivery.
* Monitor the performance and selection of suppliers in association with the Quality Department.
* Work with the Engineering Department to overcome technical problems with the supply of parts and to provide the timely supply of parts for Engineering Projects.
* Ensure purchase or contract terms and conditions placed on suppliers protect the company and are appropriate for the purchase.
* Monitor the reorder levels set in GEM.
* Expedite orders.
* Monitor call-off orders and supplier stock-holding programmes where appropriate.
* Undertake any other duties as appropriate within their competence, as required by their Head of Unit from time to time.
Skills & Experience:
* ERP system experience.
* Minimum of 3 years' experience in a similar role.
* Intermediate Excel knowledge.
