Job Title: BDM - Commercial (Solar & Heat Pumps)

Location: South Yorkshire

Salary: Circa £45k DOE (OTE £80k+) + Company Car

Job Description:

Our client is seeking a dynamic and experienced Business Development Manager (BDM) to join their team, focusing on developing commercial opportunities within the Solar and Heat Pump sectors. This role is specifically targeted at house builders, developers, architects, and other commercial clients, rather than standard residential markets. You will be expected to leverage existing relationships, generate new leads, and actively promote the company’s products and services.

The ideal candidate will have strong connections within the house-building and development industries and a proven track record of securing new business and driving revenue growth. Experience in Solar, Heat Pumps, or both is highly desirable.

Key Responsibilities:

Identify and pursue new business opportunities with house builders, developers, architects, and commercial clients.

Develop and maintain strong, long-lasting relationships with key stakeholders.

Actively promote the company’s Solar and Heat Pump solutions, showcasing their benefits and potential savings.

Generate leads through networking, site visits, and cold outreach; attend relevant industry events and exhibitions.

Manage and nurture warm leads provided by the company, converting them into profitable contracts.

Prepare and deliver compelling proposals, presentations, and quotations to prospective clients.

Negotiate contracts and terms to secure business and ensure customer satisfaction.

Collaborate with technical and operational teams to ensure successful project delivery.

Maintain an up-to-date CRM, recording all activities, opportunities, and client interactions.

Achieve and exceed sales targets and contribute to overall business growth.

Required Qualifications & Experience:

Proven track record of success in business development within the renewables, construction, or HVAC sectors.

Experience selling to house builders, developers, architects, or other commercial clients.

Established network of contacts within the relevant sectors.

Knowledge of Solar PV, Heat Pumps, or both.

Strong negotiation, communication, and presentation skills.

Ability to work independently, with excellent time management and organisational skills.

Full UK driving licence.

Desirable Skills:

Experience working with architects and developers to specify renewable energy solutions.

Knowledge of grants, incentives, and legislation affecting the renewables market.

Familiarity with CRM systems and managing a sales pipeline.
