VAT Manager

About the Role

A global, leading engineering business is seeking to recruit for a new position as a VAT Manager to cover the UK and Ireland.  This role is offered on an initial 2-year Fixed Term Contract basis and reports to the Finance Director.

This role is crucial in ensuring VAT compliance, optimising VAT processes, and providing expert advice on VAT-related matters across the UK and Ireland. You will play a key role in process improvements, system implementation, and risk management while collaborating with internal and external stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

Ensure accurate and timely submission of VAT returns
Manage VAT registrations, de-registrations, and reconciliation processes
Provide expert VAT advice to internal stakeholders on business initiatives
Participate in the implementation of a new software suite
Identify VAT risks and implement control measures
Liaise with HMRC on audits, disputes, and VAT enquiries
Drive process automation and standardisation for VAT compliance
Deliver VAT training for internal teams
What We’re Looking For

Professional qualification (ACA, ACCA, CTA, or equivalent)
Strong understanding of UK & EU VAT legislation
Proven experience in a VAT-focused role within a large organisation, consultancy, or HMRC
Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex VAT issues
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Experience with VAT software and Microsoft Excel
A proactive, self-motivated professional with a keen eye for process improvements
