Main Purpose of the job:
The SHEQ Manager will play pivotal role in the development and growth of DGP, improving the approach to Safety and Quality across the company, assisting with the implementation of safety and health campaigns by engaging teams, and managers to develop a pro-active safety culture. The SHEQ Manager will assist with the execution of the SHEQ business strategy for the business coordinating work systems to ensure that the services of the company meet the highest quality standards and that the working conditions of the company are favorable and safe.
Key Accountabilities:
* To provide support and act as a company expert on legal, technical issues with regards to Health, Safety and Environmental issues.
* To ensure compliance with all relevant legislation and regulation.
* To implement/monitor and advise on strategic health and safety management systems.
* Monitor/ implement safe systems of works/ risk assessments, supporting site managers in developing and monitoring safe systems of work/ risk assessments for their projects.
* Promote a positive health and safety culture.
* Work proactively with managers and site teams to establish and maintain a program of continuous improvement in the area of SHEQ.
* To ensure/ identify training is implemented in accordance with statutory requirements and DGP policies/procedures.
* Assist with production and delivery of in-house training.
* Support the achievement of good industry practice, business competitiveness, and the development of a learning organization.
* Ensure that data with regards to SHEQ performance is effectively captured and analyzed to enable improvement plans.
* Highlight areas where practice needs to be improved in conjunction with relevant managers.
* Investigating accidents and producing factual, detailed reports.
* Carrying out health and safety inspections to ensure compliance and safe working practices. Reporting findings to management with actions.
* Manage and advise on plant and equipment needs in accordance LOLER and PUWER Regulations.
* Recommend control measures and advise of the standard of PPE issued to personnel.
* Ensure corrective actions are closed out after any workplace inspection
Required Skills/Qualifications:
* Essential Qualifications – General NEBOSH Certificate, CSCS Card, First Aid Certificate, Train the Trainer Qualification
* Desirable Qualifications – SHEQ related Diploma, NEBOSH Fire Prevention and Risk Management Certificate, Environmental Management Systems Qualification
* General Management Qualification
* Graduate IOSH Status or CMIOSH status
* Good communicator
Experience
* Essential – At least 3 years experience in a SHEQ Management Role
Desirable – At least 5 years experience in a SHEQ Management Role in a similar construction contractors’ industry with line management Experience
