Job Overview:
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Electrical Site Manager to oversee the electrical installations and site operations for a prestigious school project in Pocklington. This is a crucial role where you will take responsibility for managing the day-to-day operations of the electrical works on-site, ensuring that the project is completed on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of safety and quality.
As the Electrical Site Manager, you will be the primary point of contact for the electrical team, subcontractors, and clients, and you will play a key role in maintaining communication between all project stakeholders. You will be responsible for coordinating electrical installations, supervising site staff, and ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations, codes of practice, and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Site Management & Leadership:
Manage and oversee the electrical installation works on the building services project, ensuring that they meet the required standards, specifications, and deadlines.
Supervise and lead the electrical team, including electricians and subcontractors, ensuring that they have the necessary resources and support to carry out their work safely and effectively.
Coordinate daily site operations, ensuring that the electrical works are carried out in accordance with the project plan, quality requirements, and health & safety regulations.
Provide on-site leadership and resolve any issues related to electrical work, including technical challenges, supply chain issues, and workforce management.
Project Planning & Coordination:
Develop and maintain detailed site-specific plans for the electrical works, including timelines, resources, and manpower scheduling.
Liaise with the project management team to ensure that the electrical work aligns with the overall project milestones and timelines.
Ensure that all materials and equipment required for electrical installations are available on-site and meet project specifications.
Review and interpret electrical drawings, specifications, and other technical documents to ensure accuracy and consistency in execution.
Health & Safety Compliance:
Ensure that all electrical works are carried out in compliance with health and safety regulations, including the management of risk assessments and method statements.
Lead by example and maintain a strong focus on safety, ensuring that all staff on-site are fully briefed on safety protocols and are following safe working practices.
Regularly monitor the site for potential hazards and take corrective action as required to maintain a safe working environment.
Quality Assurance & Documentation:
Monitor the quality of electrical installations on-site, ensuring that they meet the project’s quality standards and relevant regulations.
Ensure that any non-conformance issues are identified and addressed promptly.
Maintain accurate records of building services works completed, site meetings, inspections, and quality control checks.
Assist with commissioning, testing, and handover procedures as required.
Client & Stakeholder Liaison:
Serve as the main point of contact for the client, ensuring that their expectations are met, and project requirements are fulfilled.
Attend regular site meetings and provide updates on progress, challenges, and next steps to clients, senior management, and other stakeholders.
Coordinate with other site managers, project managers, and trades to ensure smooth collaboration and timely project delivery.
Budget & Cost Management:
Assist in the management of the project budget for electrical works, tracking costs, and ensuring that the project is delivered within the financial parameters.
Identify any potential cost-saving measures or value engineering opportunities without compromising quality or safety.
Key Requirements:
Experience & Qualifications:
Proven experience as an Electrical Site Manager or in a similar role within the building services, MEP sector.
Strong knowledge of electrical installations, wiring, and systems, including experience in schools or educational projects.
Relevant electrical qualifications, such as a Level 3 NVQ in Electrical Installation, JIB Gold Card, or equivalent.
SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme) or equivalent health and safety qualification.
Industry qualification.
Skills & Competencies:
Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and manage teams.
Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively.
In-depth knowledge of electrical regulations, building codes, and health & safety standards.
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
Proficient in using project management software and related IT tools.
A proactive problem solver with strong decision-making abilities.
