Head of Finance, Royal Society of Edinburgh

Salary - up to £70,000
The Royal Society of Edinburgh (RSE) is Scotland's National Academy, working to inspire, engage, provide expertise and promote Scotland across the globe. We are seeking an enthusiastic and compelling business partner with exceptional communication skills to champion the RSE as our new Head of Finance.
In this role, you will be responsible for the day-to-day management of financial planning, accounting and reporting including budgeting, forecasting, cost control, financial reporting and funds management. As such, you will be a strategic thinker adept at balancing benefit against risk and will use principles, sound values and business sense to make forward-thinking decisions. Strong commercial awareness and an ability to drive productivity and efficiency will allow you to confidently create processes and procedures that enable the achievement of the RSE's goals. You will act as a trusted adviser to your peers, able to convey complex information and messages in a straightforward, easy-to-understand way enabling effective decision making.
We are looking for a qualified accountant, with a relevant membership (ICAS, CIMA or ACCA), who has experience at a mid-to-senior level within a Finance team. This is an ideal role for a senior-level finance professional who possesses a proven track record of effectively leading, managing and developing a team. You will understand what it means to be a true business partner; having worked and built strong relationships with influencers and partners and will be able to navigate this network as the key finance contact for the RSE.
With a responsibility for managing annual audits, producing accounts and ensuring that budgets are prepared and managed effectively, it is key that your passion and ambition are focused on what is pragmatic.
