Job Title: Quality Control (QC) Technician
Location: Ashford
Working Hours: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM, 36.25 hours per week
Position Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated Quality Control (QC) Technician to join our team in Ashford. Under regular supervision, the QC Technician will evaluate, inspect, and analyse raw materials, intermediates, and finished goods. This role involves performing basic sensory, physical, and analytical tests to ensure compliance with product safety regulations, specifications, and standards.
Core Responsibilities:
Conduct a variety of sensory assessments, including organoleptic evaluations (odour, taste) and visual inspections (colour, appearance).
Perform quality control measurements using wet chemical methods, such as titration and saponification, to determine pH, acid values, and other chemical characteristics.
Measure physical characteristics of samples through tests such as specific gravity, refractive index, melting point, and flashpoint.
Utilize advanced analytical techniques, including chromatography, GC-MS, infrared spectroscopy, and ICP, to determine the composition of tested samples.
Accurately enter test results into laboratory books and systems, including SAP.
Document instances of non-conformance and contribute to material-related investigations by extracting, analysing, summarizing, and collecting relevant data.
Academic Background:
High School Diploma in a technical field such as Chemistry or Biology is required; equivalent qualifications (GED) will also be considered.
Professional Experience:
1 to 2 years of experience in a similar quality control position.
Previous background in Sensory Evaluation and/or Analytical Quality Control is required.
Technical Skills:
Proficiency in laboratory and QC techniques is essential.
Familiarity with computer systems, particularly SAP, databases, and Microsoft Office products is preferred.
Operational experience with analytical equipment and instruments, including weighing balances, densitometers, refractometers, moisture balances, Karl Fischer titrators, sieve testing equipment, and GC, is advantageous.
Knowledge of chemical substances, hazardous materials, and local regulations is important.
Basic sensory evaluation capabilities or potential are preferred.
