NexGen Consultancy are currently recruiting for a Quality Engineer/Inspector to join a well established client located in Somerset.
Our client is a precision engineering subcontract machine shop that specialises in high quality turning and 5 axis CNC machining in the aerospace, motorsport, defence and commercial customer bases.
Priding themselves on investing in the best equipment, tooling and training along with having a motivated and skilled workforce.
Due to continued expansion of the capacity with the purchase of two further mill turn machines and another 5 axis machining centre, capabilities and an expanding order book we need to find experienced skilled Quality Inspector/ engineer to help us fulfil our expanding order book.
Hours of Work: Monday - Thursday 7am - 4pm, Friday 7am - 1:30pm
The Role
To control product quality throughout the business, ensuring that the organisation meets its customers’ expectations. To work with the Quality Manager and others inspectors in the quality department in promoting a right first-time approach to all tasks within the company. To advise on best measurement techniques and practices and promote a continuous improvement ethos within the business. To work within an AS9100 quality environment.
This is a salaried position.
Key duties:
* Conduct 1st off, interim, patrol and final inspection activities.
* Use the SFDC (Shop Floor Data Collection) to clock on and off the jobs accurately and log scrap and conforming parts.
* Conduct inspection of externally supplied materials, goods and parts.
* Complete First Article to AS9102, PPAP’s and inspections reports (ISIR).
* Ensure adherence to agreed plans and procedures.
* Ensure all documentation is completed accurately.
* Conduct reject analysis for internal and external rejects.
* Carry out root cause analysis and complete RCCA / NCR reports.
* Complete concession requests.
* Work within a team and provide cover for other team members when required.
* Help with contract review when required to meet customer requirements.
* To liaise with customers on quality related matters when required.
* To attend customers / supplier’s premises where required on quality matters.
* Undertake internal auditing when required (after training).
* To be able to use and program all relevant CMM Measuring Equipment.
* To be able to use all relevant Metrology Equipment.
* To be able to conduct part marking when required.
Key Skills:
* Minimum of 3 years experience in a precision machining inspection department.
* Minimum of 3 years experience of using metrology equipment.
* Minimum of 3 years’ Experience of Aberlink CMM Programming and use.
* Good time management skills.
* Good problem-solving skills.
* Computer literate.
* A very good eye for detail.
* Willingness to learn.
* Proven ability to read and follow work instructions.
* Internal auditing experience or qualification (training will be given if required)
