Spencer Clarke Group are working with Secondary School on the Fylde Coast who are seeking a Design Technology teacher with a focus on Resistance Materials.

We are looking for a motivated and dedicated Design Technology Teacher specialising in Resistance Materials. The successful candidate will inspire students across [Key Stages 3-4] to explore and develop skills in working with materials such as wood, metal, and plastic. The role involves delivering high-quality, engaging lessons, fostering creativity, problem-solving, and practical design skills, while preparing students for their GCSEs and A-levels.

Key Responsibilities:

Plan and deliver creative, engaging, and challenging lessons in Design Technology with a special focus on Resistance Materials.
Equip students with knowledge and practical skills in areas such as woodwork, metalwork, and plastics.
Foster a classroom environment that encourages curiosity, hands-on experimentation, and the development of problem-solving abilities.
Support and guide students in completing design projects from concept to creation, ensuring safe use of tools and machinery.
Assess and provide constructive feedback on student work, ensuring they meet curriculum objectives and standards.
Work collaboratively with colleagues to contribute to curriculum development and department initiatives.
Keep up to date with advancements in technology, materials, and teaching methodologies to maintain high standards of instruction.
Ensure health and safety standards are rigorously applied in the workshop and classroom environments.
Qualifications and Experience:

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification.
A degree or relevant qualification in Design Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
Specialisation or extensive experience in Resistance Materials (wood, metal, and plastics).
Experience teaching Design Technology at secondary school level, including GCSE and A-level.
Strong knowledge of health and safety regulations related to workshop practices.
Skills and Attributes:

A passion for teaching and a genuine enthusiasm for Design Technology.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and motivate students.
Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to work collaboratively with other staff members and contribute to the overall development of the department.
A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
