2024 is your time for change, join Southwark’s first Children’s Home as one of our Residential Practitioners and help make a key difference in the lives of Children in our care at Southwark Council!

About the Role:

As a Residential Practitioner, you'll create a child-centred, nurturing and safe home environment for children we care for by offering high quality care and contributing towards achieving positive outcomes with children. Committed to promoting children's wellbeing and rights, you'll support children to develop their identity, aspirations, skills and independence.

Your Responsibilities:

* Develop positive relationships with children we care for as well as their families.

* Create, implement and review personalised care plans to support the unique needs of each child.

* Create a nurturing, safe and respectful environment fostering children’s personal growth.

* Offer effective support which enables children's behavioural development.

* Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including therapists, teachers psychologists and social workers.

* Organise and participate in group activities promoting social skills, self-esteem, and positive interactions.

* Maintain accurate records and documentation to track children’s progress and outcomes.

Requirements:

* Genuine passion for supporting children we care for and enabling them to achieve their full potential.

* Level 3 qualification or equivalent, or commitment to undertaking the relevant course post-probation.

* Knowledge and understanding of child development.

* Knowledge and understanding of legislation and guidance in relation to safeguarding children and children's homes.

* Experience of working directly with children in a residential setting (e.g. children's home).

* Ability to work effectively as part of a team.

* Ability to communicate effectively with children, families, team members and multi-agency colleagues.
