Production Parts Picker

Ipswich, Suffolk
Apply Now

We are seeking an organised, adaptable person with a ‘can-do’ approach to join our client as a Parts Picker, a standalone role working between sheet metal and welding departments in their large modern factory in Stanton, Suffolk.

It is a full-time role, working 39 hours per week from 8:00 – 16:30 Mon to Thurs, and 8:00 – 15:30 on Fridays with overtime available during the week. It pays a basic hourly rate of £12.20 per hour with any overtime paid at time and a third.

The Company

Our client has been designing and manufacturing machinery and accessories (on both a small and large scale) for global agricultural markets for over 50 years. They have achieved enormous success in their field due to their reputation for quality products and on-site engineering expertise. They are also a very stable employer, with high retention rates of staff and an excellent friendly, tidy, and safe working environment.

The Role

The role involves the collecting of machined parts ready to be welded either internally or packaged up to be delivered externally. Other duties will include:

* Safe loading and unloading of equipment and parts, without damage

* Identifying part locations from job cards

* Organising of ‘kits’ as per job cards and drawings

* Identifying discrepancies or missing parts

* Completion of necessary paperwork

* Adhering to schedules and following job directives

* Stock rotation, checking and organisation

Role Requirements

The role would suit somebody who enjoys the challenge of staying organised in what can be a busy job. It’s an ‘on your feet’ role, which will involve roaming around the factory and yard to find parts. The company has a large site, but it’s reaching its capacity for free space so sometimes items may not be where you expect!

They are looking for a long-term addition who can make their role their own, by showing initiative, and a commitment to learning company-specific parts and becoming an invaluable member of the production/factory workforce.

Requirements are:

* Several years’ experience working in a warehouse or manufacturing environment with demonstrable longevity in your past roles

* Strong communication skills

* A key eye for accuracy

* Being resilient and calm under pressure

* The ability to work as a team and assist others when necessary, working towards a central goal

* FLT license or a willingness to go through paid for training to obtain one

* Organised and proactive

* This role is very physical and includes repetitive lifting
