Job Title: Warehouse Operative / Workshop Supervisor
Location: Billingshurst
Job Type: Full Time - Monday to Friday (07:00am to 17:00pm)
Overview: We are seeking an experienced and proactive Warehouse Operative to oversee and coordinate the daily operations within our workshop environment. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in the heavy plant industry, combined with excellent organizational, customer service, and mechanical skills. This is an exciting opportunity to manage a dynamic, hands-on role and ensure smooth operations of our warehouse and workshop facilities.
Key Responsibilities:
* Operational Oversight: Manage daily warehouse activities, ensuring production, productivity, quality, and customer service standards are met within the designated timeframes.
* Inventory Management: Maintain accurate records of all parts, tools, and associated equipment, ensuring appropriate levels of stock are in place for continued machine operations.
* Warehouse Organization: Implement and maintain an organized, clean, and safe working environment. Ensure walkways are clear of clutter and all tools and materials are properly stored.
* Equipment Maintenance: Oversee the condition of warehouse and workshop equipment. Report and address any broken or malfunctioning equipment, conducting regular LOLER inspections on chains and lifting equipment.
* Customer & Team Interaction: Provide exceptional customer service by liaising with clients and internal teams (including fitters) to ensure timely and accurate processing of orders and inquiries.
* Parts Ordering: Source and order parts and associated equipment as needed, ensuring adequate supplies are available for operational efficiency.
* Troubleshooting: Interpret schematics to troubleshoot and resolve any technical issues, implementing solutions quickly and effectively.
* Barcoding System: Help implement and manage a barcoding system within the warehouse for better inventory tracking.
Key Skills and Experience:
* Warehouse Experience: Proven experience in a workshop or mechanical environment is essential, with a solid understanding of warehouse operations.
* Mechanical Knowledge: Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to perform heavy lifting and handle tools and machinery efficiently.
* Customer Service Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with clients and team members.
* Technical Proficiency: Ability to read and interpret technical schematics and manage warehouse management software, including proficiency in Microsoft Office.
* Safety & Compliance: Demonstrated adherence to warehouse safety practices, along with the ability to operate warehouse machinery and equipment safely.
* Organizational & Problem-Solving Skills: Exceptional organizational skills, with an eye for detail and the ability to identify and resolve issues proactively.
Additional Requirements:
* Physical Requirements: Must be able to lift and move heavy objects and stand for extended periods.
