We have an excellent opportunity for a Chemist/Scientist to work in a fast-paced/dynamic environment within the Yacht Research and Development team.

This is a key R&D role to support the needs of the Yacht business which includes day to day prioritization/execution of business requests & risk management via effective coordination of customer claim/complaint investigations.

Job Purpose

As a member of our R&D team you will work on a range of business-critical needs focusing on existing product/portfolio with some time supporting development projects for our Coatings operations in Felling.

Job Responsibilities

* Support testing of existing & newly emerging technologies, products, processes & coatings systems used within the Yachting industry

* Design, develop, carry-out, evaluate & interpret experiments.

* Report results, propose conclusions/recommendations within agreed timescales using appropriate methods to internal customers/stakeholders

* Develop a fundamental understanding of key product/coating attributes & performance

* Effective management of short / long-term plans for assigned projects & support activities

* Support internal and external customer needs (e.g. training colleagues, technical advice, leading complaint investigations)

* Identify improvement needs & suggest improvement activities/projects.

* Work safely & in compliance with company & legal requirements.

Job Requirements

* Masters or BSc degree or equivalent in Chemistry or a related science subject.

* Experience of working in a laboratory environment. Good laboratory skills – safe, structured, logical approach with excellent attention to detail

* Experience in structured problem-solving

* Excellent communication & interpersonal skills

* Experience in the paints/coatings industry would be advantageous

* Able to follow processes & procedures.
