The Solution Group are recruiting on behalf of our client, a leading company in the roofing and cladding industry, who is seeking an experienced Buyer to join their team. This pivotal role will be responsible for the procurement of goods and services to meet the company’s needs and support the demands of various roofing and cladding projects. Working closely with Project Managers, the design team, and the procurement manager, you will play a crucial part in ensuring the timely delivery of materials, plant, and equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
* Manage the procurement and scheduling of products, materials, plant, and equipment.
* Negotiate competitive prices and commercial terms to ensure best value and on-time delivery.
* Monitor price increases and update internal spreadsheets accordingly.
* Track orders, address failed or late deliveries, and arrange returns of non-conforming products.
* Develop and maintain strong relationships with preferred and specified suppliers, and manage the supply chain.
* Identify new products and suppliers to enhance procurement options.
* Oversee purchase administration and reporting, ensuring accuracy in all transactions.
Ideal Candidate:
* Minimum 2 years of purchasing experience in the roofing, cladding, or related construction industry.
* Excellent negotiation skills with a strong commercial awareness to optimise pricing and terms.
* Experience in construction and procurement, including the ability to read construction drawings and perform take-offs, is advantageous.
* Proven track record in ensuring timely, on-budget delivery of materials in line with project programs.
* Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple site projects, balancing long-lead and real-time demands.
* Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with site personnel, design teams, suppliers, subcontractors, and clients.
* Self-motivated and comfortable working in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
* Proficient in using computer programs for word processing, email, and spreadsheets.
