Job Summary

The CNC Setter Operator (Composites) is responsible for setting up and operating CNC machines to produce high-precision composite components for customers in the automotive, aerospace, and motorsport industries. This role involves interpreting technical drawings, programming CNC machines, and ensuring that composite materials are machined to the highest quality standards. The CNC Setter Operator plays a vital role in maintaining production efficiency and accuracy while working with composite materials in a fast-paced environment.

Main Duties

* Set up and operate CNC machines to machine composite materials with precision.

* Program CNC machines based on engineering drawings and technical specifications for composite components.

* Adjust tools, offsets, and settings to ensure the proper machining of composite parts while maintaining strict tolerances.

* Inspect composite components using precision measuring tools such as micrometres, calipers, and gauges to ensure they meet quality and dimensional standards.

* Work closely with the composites and quality teams to ensure all parts meet specifications for strength, finish, and tolerance.

* Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting on CNC machines to minimise downtime and maintain production efficiency.

* Monitor machine performance to ensure optimal production rates and product quality.

* Support the company’s commitment to LEAN manufacturing and 5S practices by maintaining a clean and organised workspace.

* Follow health and safety protocols related to working with CNC machines and composite materials.

Requirements

* At least two years of experience as a CNC Setter Operator, with specific experience in working with composite materials.

* Strong understanding of CNC programming, setup, and operation, especially related to machining composite components.

* Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documents for composite parts.

* Familiarity with composite materials and their machining properties, including cutting speeds and tool selection.

* Experience using precision measuring tools such as micrometres, calipers, and gauges to inspect components.

* Excellent attention to detail and the ability to meet tight quality standards when machining composites.

* Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot machine and material issues.

* Good communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate with production and quality teams.

* Familiarity with LEAN manufacturing and 5S practices is desirable.

* Knowledge of safety protocols when working with CNC machines and composite materials
