Class Teacher

Location: Near Attleborough, Norfolk

Salary: £31,650 - £49,084 (M1 – UPS3)

Hours: 40 hours per week

We’re currently looking for a Class Teacher near Attleborough, Norfolk, to provide outstanding teaching and leadership to their class teams. This position is ideal for someone with experience in teaching a range of subjects, including English and Mathematics. The successful candidate will help to embed the vision, direction, and culture that inspires staff teams to work together, ensuring the highest standards of education and care. Colleagues trained in KS1 and KS2 have successfully applied their skills and knowledge to teaching secondary-aged students.

The school near Attleborough, Norfolk, provides day placements for students aged 11 to 16 years, primarily with communication and interaction difficulties or specific learning difficulties such as dyslexia. Some students may be on the autistic spectrum or have anxieties and challenges that create barriers to learning.

With small classes (a maximum of 10 students) and a minimum of 3 staff per class, you can focus on the needs of each student. There is an onsite clinical team to provide support, and you will work with an experienced and stable senior leadership team.

As a Class Teacher near Attleborough, Norfolk, your role will be to provide high-quality, challenging, and differentiated educational activities and experiences through the teaching of a broad and balanced curriculum. You will have the flexibility to adapt lessons to enable pupils to achieve their full potential in all areas of learning.

You will plan and deliver lessons according to Department for Education guidance and the school’s policies and will be responsible for the day-to-day running of the class and other relevant aspects of school life. You will supervise and guide Teaching Assistants and Higher-Level Teaching Assistants and play a key role in their professional development. Additionally, as a Class Teacher near Attleborough, Norfolk, you will implement school policies and practices, including safeguarding and promoting equality of opportunity. You will be expected to monitor the health, well-being, and personal care of pupils, and communicate with relevant professionals when necessary.

Skills and Qualifications:

QTS or QTLS (essential). NQTs considered.

Experience in teaching across a range of subjects.

Experience in teaching pupils with SEN and working with EHCPs.

Thorough working knowledge of the curriculum and the ability to adapt it for pupils with SEND.

Experience of working with young people with SEND, within a nurture framework.

Understanding of safeguarding principles and child protection procedures.

Ability to build and maintain strong, nurturing relationships with young people.

Experience of managing a range of approaches to learning, including supporting students with anxiety and SEND.

Knowledge of strategies and visual teaching methods to engage reluctant learners.

A flexible, creative approach and the ability to adapt teaching to meet individual needs.

Due to the rural location of the school near Attleborough, Norfolk, candidates are strongly advised to hold a full UK driving licence and have access to their own vehicle.
