Job Advert: SEN Secondary English Teacher (Temp-to-Perm)

Location: Nottingham, NG11
Contract: Full-time, Temp-to-Perm
Start Date: January 2025 (earlier start available to settle in before the new year)

We are seeking a passionate Secondary English Teacher to join our specialist provision in Nottingham. This is a temp-to-perm opportunity for an experienced professional who is ready to inspire and support young people with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and associated conditions.

This role offers the chance to teach GCSE English in a highly supportive environment, with small class sizes (no more than 6 pupils) and the help of up to two teaching assistants.

Our school provides an inclusive and nurturing space for pupils with SEMH needs, including diagnoses such as Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADHD, Sensory Processing Disorder, and Attachment Needs. Role Responsibilities

Plan and deliver engaging, high-quality GCSE English lessons within the national curriculum framework.
Adapt teaching methods to meet the unique needs of each pupil, promoting positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing.
Work collaboratively with teaching assistants to create a supportive and inclusive classroom environment.
Monitor and report on pupil progress, addressing any concerns and celebrating achievements.
Supervise pupils during non-classroom activities, including extracurricular events and school trips.
Build positive relationships with pupils to foster engagement and success in learning.

Requirements

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a degree-level education.
Proven experience teaching GCSE English at the secondary level.
Experience working with pupils with SEMH or additional needs in an educational setting.
Strong behaviour management skills and an empathetic, patient approach.
Commitment to continuous professional development.
Willingness to undergo an Enhanced DBS check prior to starting work.
