Design Manager (Architectural)
Location: Cambridge (Site-based 4 days per week, 1 day from home)
Pay Rate: £29 per hour
Contract Length: 12 months
Overview:
We are seeking a highly experienced and motivated Design Manager (Architectural) with a strong background in delivering complex healthcare projects.
Key Responsibilities:
* Oversee the design process for healthcare projects, with a specific focus on internals/fit-out and compliance with HTM and HBN standards.
* Coordinate the integration of furniture, fixtures, and equipment into the design to ensure seamless functionality.
* Manage design teams, including internal architects, engineers, and external consultants, ensuring alignment with project requirements and compliance with regulations.

Compliance & Safety:
* Ensure all projects meet the requirements of the Building Safety Act for high-risk buildings (over 18m and habitable), with an emphasis on maintaining safety standards throughout the design process.
* Demonstrate competence to the Building Safety Regulator, particularly regarding the safety and compliance of designs for high-risk buildings.

Stakeholder Management:
* Liaise with clients, contractors, regulators, and other stakeholders to ensure that all project requirements are met and that the design aligns with both functional needs and regulatory standards.
* Coordinate and lead meetings with stakeholders to review design progress and resolve any issues related to safety, compliance, or performance.
Required Qualifications & Experience:
* Minimum 8 years of experience in a Design Manager role within a Tier 1 Main Contractor in the UK.
* Proven experience in delivering healthcare projects, with a focus on internals/fit-out, HTM, HBN compliance, and furniture & equipment coordination.
* Demonstrated experience in managing projects classified as High-Risk Buildings under the Building Safety Act (over 18m in height and habitable).

Qualifications:
* Degree qualified in a technical subject relevant to the role (Architecture, Engineering, or related fields).
* Professionally Chartered with a recognized body (e.g., RIBA, RICS, or other relevant institutions).
* Ability to demonstrate competence to the Building Safety Regulator as part of approvals under the Building Safety Act
